The Wildcat Den State Park is one of the most photographed parks in Iowa. Visitors often enjoy camping, touring historical buildings, and hiking during their time here. Wildcat Den State Park is located 10 miles away from Muscatine, Iowa. Explore the small frontier town showcasing the Mel Pine schoolhouse, the Old Stone Church, and the Pine Creek grist mill. Tour guides take visitors through the town and share the history of the mill and provide insight into what life was like in the 1800s.
The park is open year-round and has picnic shelters, primitive campgrounds, and many hiking trails leading through sandstone bluffs and natural formations. Some of the notable rock formations include "Steamboat Rock", "Fat Man's Squeeze", and "Devil's Punch Bowl." The trails wind through various terrain and hikers of any experience level can find something that suits their needs. The campsites are primitive but they do have running water and vault toilets. There are 20 non-electric campsites, a group campsite, and two shelters available. Leashed pets are allowed in the area. Wildcat Den State Park has a lot to offer, don't miss out on the chance to visit the next time you're in Iowa.
