Head to one of America's top swimming holes.
Slide Rock State Park features a unique waterslide that has been worn into sandstone. This place was originally part of the Pendley Homestead, where Frank L. Pendley first planted an apple orchard in 1912. The park encompasses 43-acres in Oak Creek Canyon. A natural slide sits below the historic apple orchard and is surrounded by gorgeous red rocks. Slide Rock is 80 feet long and 2.5 to 4 feet wide, with a seven percent decline from top to bottom. Algae on the rocks create a slippery ride for visitors.
Park entrance fees range from $10 to $30 per car, depending on the season. The park is usually open from 8 am to 6 pm, except for holidays and from December 1 through January 31 (hours are 9 am to 5 pm during those months). While you're here cooling off in the ultimate water slide, check out the historic cabins. If you're planning a fun trip to Sedona, Arizona, don't skip out on Slide Rock State Park.
