Learn about various Native American tribes from Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.
The Museum of Northern Arizona features a 200-acre campus with research labs and state-of-the-art collections facilities. This museum has a collection of over 5 million Native American artifacts, natural science specimens, and fine art pieces. Founded in 1928, they have collected many Native American artifacts, including toys, jewelry, artwork, pottery, and weaving from many Native American tribes.
Several exhibits have listening stations for visitors to listen to the information in the original native language. The Star Wars art display has a short video translating the spoken word into Navajo, which is fun to watch. There is also a kid-friendly section with interactive games, coloring, audiovisual learning, and a puppet show. Outside of the museum is a nature trail through the beautiful pines. This trail can help you learn about the Colorado plateau. Spend some time at the Museum of Northern Arizona the next time you're passing through Flagstaff.
