See one of the most magnificent national parks.
Grand Canyon National Park is a natural wonder with its layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. Viewpoints include Mather Point, Yavapai Observation Station, architect Mary Colter’s Lookout Studio, and the Desert View Watchtower. With wide views of the canyon and Colorado River, Lipan Point is also popular, especially at sunrise and sunset.
The Grand Canyon National Park encompasses 277 miles (446 km) of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. The park is one mile deep and up to 18 miles wide. Grand Canyon's South Rim is open 24/7 and has some of the most majestic landscapes in North America. You can also see the North Rim from mid-May to mid-October. Passes must be purchased to enter the park, and these are valid for 7 days. Please note that pets are not allowed below the canyon rim and must remain leashed.
There are plenty of areas for wildlife observation. Many bird species can be seen in the Grand Canyon, such as hawks, eagles, falcons, condors, osprey, ducks, geese, hummingbirds, sandpipers, doves, larks, and turkeys. Mammals living in the national park include elk, bighorn sheep, cougars, badgers, skunks, bison, bats, and rabbits. Wear sunscreen and good hiking shoes, and always bring plenty of water with you as you explore the trails within the Grand Canyon. Have a fun time visiting Arizona's beloved natural attraction with your friends and family.
