Kodachrome Basin State Park is located 9 miles southeast of Cannonville, Utah, off Highway 12. This park is a short drive from Bryce Canyon National Park. The Kodachrome Basin State Park has been open to the public since 1963. Park hours are 6 am to 10 pm daily, and visitors can extend their stay at one of the campgrounds. You can also opt for one of the bunkhouses, which feature bunk beds, futon couches, chairs, and tables. Please note that bunkers need to provide their own bedding. Star parties are hosted here frequently, so enjoy the starry night sky views and enjoy some glow-in-the-dark disk golf.
The visitor center is located at the entrance where guests can find local information, snacks, and souvenirs. Kodachrome Basin State Park consists of sandstone formations that date back to 180 million years ago. The mesmerizing layers also contain shale quartz and clay, creating beautiful coloration. Along with stargazing, there are 12 miles of hiking trails, which vary in degrees of difficulty. The nature trail is ADA accessible and includes informational plaques about local plantlife.
