Enjoy this Connecticut park that is perfect for camping, picnicking, fishing, and hiking.
The Rocky Neck State Park is a public recreation area on the Long Island Sound in the town of East Lyme. This park has 708 acres and features a tidal river, a salt marsh, white sand beaches, and rocky shores. It also has a large stone pavilion that was built in 1930. Visitors enjoy crabbing, hiking, fishing, camping, or just spending the day on the beach and swimming. The trails in the park offer some scenic walks to the salt marsh, to Baker's Cave, Tony's Nose, and the Shipyard.
Visitors will see an abundance of fish and wildlife, including herring that swim into Bride Brook toward inland spawning grounds in the spring tides. Fish species seen throughout the year include mackerel, striped bass, blackfish, and flounder. Bird enthusiasts should watch for osprey and fish hawks seen in early summer and cranes, herons, and mute swans by the cattails and rose mallow in the fall. The Rocky Neck Campground has 160 sites available from May through September. The campground offers sites in both open and wooded areas to accommodate your preferences. Enjoy the great outdoors at Rocky Neck State Park.
