Interact with fascinating sea creatures at this local aquarium.
Open since 1973; the Mystic Aquarium offers fun, education, and fantastic animals. The Mystic Aquarium is split into four main sections, featuring animals by region. Guests can also go to the Foxwoods Marine Theater, which offers daily shows with trained California sea lions as the stars of the show. The Main Gallery is an indoor exhibit with thousands of unique and colorful fish ranging from eels, sharks, jellies, Giant Pacific Octopus, Giant Japanese Spider Crabs, and even a live coral reef system. The Jurassic Giants area of the Aquarium takes visitors back in time and has giant animatronic dinosaurs that come to life! There are also two 4D theaters and extensive frog and reptile galleries in this area. Please note that an additional entrance fee is required to enter Jurassic Giants.
The final area of the Aquarium is a large outdoor section with exhibits for the Arctic Coast, Pacific Northwest, and Marshlands. Mystic Aquarium also has the largest outdoor beluga whale exhibit in the United States. For an additional fee, you can experience animal encounters with penguins, harbor seals, sea lions, beluga whales, reptiles, or rays. General admission tickets vary in price from $29-$40 per person. Hours of operation are from 9 am to 6 pm, and parking is available for no additional charge. Explore the wonders of the ocean at Connecticut's Mystic Aquarium.
