Visit this quaint farm and garden attraction on Block Island.
The 1661 Farm and Gardens is a few minutes from the ferry docks on the eastern side of Block Island. It is a small hobby farm between Spring and High Street. Justin Abrams created the farm, and it features an exotic collection of animals. Abrams passed away in 2016, and his grandsons still run things just as their grandpa would. Some animals you will see include sheep, goats, ducks, donkeys, and swans. Unusual animals such as emus, kangaroos, llamas, lemurs, and even camels, are here as well. Zebu, a yak, and a zedonk named Cindy also call the farm home.
Justin began collecting animals many years ago. This attraction is free to visit from dawn to dusk year-round. You can also buy a bag of feed for just $1 to feed to some of the emus and goats if you want. While visiting Rhode Island and Block Island, it will be worth your time to stop by the 1661 Farm and Gardens.
