Point Judith Lighthouse

The Point Judith Lighthouse is an octagonal brownstone building. It dates back to the early 1800s and is 51 feet tall. Point Judith was named in the 17th century after a small boat that almost got shipwrecked. The original wooden lighthouse was destroyed, but this is a recreation of what the lighthouse once was. Fishing, surfing, and photographing landscapes are popular recreational activities in the area, and you will be amazed at the beauty of this part of New England.

There is plenty of parking and a park nearby with benches, making it an excellent place for a picnic. You can see both Point Judith Lighthouse and the ocean from the park. Birding and wildlife observation are other activities you can do during your visit. Dogs are welcome at the park, and there are plenty of grassy areas for them to play and roam around. The Point Judith Lighthouse is a working Coast Guard station and is closed to the public, but visitors can walk through the marsh area to view it from behind if they want.
