See the largest living history museum in New England.
Old Sturbridge Village covers over 200 acres with over 40 buildings recreating what life was like in the early 1800s. Some of the buildings are antique and others were restored and relocated from the New England area. Other historic buildings on site are authentic reconstructions of original buildings. There are also three water-powered mills and a working farm. Costumed staff members demonstrate 19th-century arts, crafts, and agricultural work daily in the village. The village is divided into three sections, the center village, countryside, and mill neighborhood. The town green is in the center village, the countryside has outlying farms and shops, and you will see commercial structures in the mill neighborhood.
The Old Sturbridge Village is an immersive family-friendly place and it is open seasonally. If you're visiting between April and October, you can stop by any day except Monday and Tuesday between 9:30 am and 5 pm. The Center Village has two meetinghouses, a tin shop, a shoe shop, a cider house, and more. Head to the countryside to see the blacksmith shop, pottery shop, schoolhouse, and covered bridge. Everywhere you go, you can see collections of early American antiques such as firearms, glass, lighting devices, and an herb garden. Visiting Old Sturbridge Village is an experience that you do not want to miss!
