Hammonasset Beach State Park, located in Madison, Connecticut, is a wonderful place to spend a warm and beautiful day outside with friends and family. Situated on the Long Island Sound, there are around 2 miles of shoreline here at the park, which means there’s ample room for all your favorite beach activities. There is a boardwalk you can walk along for the best views of your surroundings and of course, you have to take a swim in the refreshing water if it’s a hot summer day!
This happens to be Connecticut’s biggest public beach park, so there is plenty to enjoy here. There are more than 500 campsites for true outdoor enthusiasts, numerous picnic areas, walking trails, and a nature center with great and educational exhibits. Visitors can also enjoy fishing, bicycling, and kayaking here at Hammonasset. This has been a favorite park among locals and out-of-towners alike for about 100 years now. Hammonasset Beach State Park is open daily from 8 am until sunset, and the campground is open between mid-May and Labor Day. This is truly the perfect place to come unwind and fully relax in a delightfully peaceful environment.
