The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art is about a block south of Connecticut's old statehouse in downtown Hartford. This castle-like building features a large art gallery full of American and European art pieces. Guests will see various paintings from the Medieval and Renaissance periods, plus artistic styles such as romanticism, baroque, neoclassical, impressionism, and more. Do not touch any of the artwork, including sculptures and old furnishings on display.
Hours are Thursday through Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm. Guests are allowed to take photos of the artwork for personal use only. Selfie sticks, tripods, and video recordings are prohibited at this art museum. Large backpacks and suitcases are also not permitted inside the museum, only handheld purses or shoulder bags are allowed.
