Take a walk in Hartford's beloved city park.
Bushnell Park is located off of Interstate 84 in Hartford, Connecticut. It is named after Horace Bushnell, a respected and successful pastor, who drew up a proposal to create this central park in the heart of the city. It features several statues, a carousel, a fountain, pond, pavilion, and a memorial arch. The soldiers and sailors memorial arch was built in remembrance of the people who fought during the Battle of Antietam (American Civil War). Guided half-hour tours of the arch are offered seasonally from June to October.
A picturesque place is the Corning Fountain. This 30-foot tall fountain is made out of marble and stone and features a stag at the top. Children will enjoy the playground and carousel while at Bushnell Park. The carousel dates back to 1914 and admission is $2 per ride. If you're here during the holidays, the park offers free ice skating (including free skate rentals) for all visitors. If you're near Hartford, Connecticut, a visit to Bushnell Park will not disappoint.
