The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center is located in Hartford, Connecticut, off of Interstate 84. Stowe was a renowned author who wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin. This center has been open to the public since 1968 and it features several 19th-century buildings. One of the main buildings is Stowe's historic home, which features Victorian and Gothic-style architecture. Harriet lived in this home for the last 23 years of her life. At the center, another place to see is the historic gardens. The gardens have various flowers in bloom from April to September.
This interactive museum is open on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Hours vary depending on the day, but the last guided tours are available one hour before their scheduled closing time. General admission for adults is $20, $15 for senior citizens (65+), $10 for children (6-16), and free for kids ages 0 to 5.
