A secluded recreational area that is accessible only by boat or kayak.

Located just East of Baltimore, Maryland, Hart-Miller Island offers outdoor fun year-round. You can spend a day trip here and relax on the beach or reserve your campsite to come and enjoy your time hiking during the day and stargazing at night. The island offers recreational activities such as swimming, fishing, hiking, and bird watching. Migrant birds often come to the area, so bring your binoculars and head to the observation platform, which is open from May through September. Restrooms and running water are also available for visitors during these months. Free bike rentals are available here if you want to get a good look at the island in its entirety.

Camping reservations can be made up to one year in advance online. Pets are welcome to come along with you, provided you follow the posted Maryland State Park rules. The Hart-Miller Island is one of Chesapeake Bay’s hidden gems, so if you enjoy exploring the outdoors, come and visit the next time you’re in the area.
