The Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum is the place of your dreams if you consider yourself a car enthusiast. Even if you don’t, you are practically guaranteed to leave this museum with a thing or two learned and a greater appreciation for antique automobiles. Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum is home to nearly 100 antique automobiles and even a large vintage fashion collection. Opened in 2007, some of the automobiles found at this museum include ones that date back to the 1800s all the way through WWII.
To some, these may just be old cars, but each one truly tells a one-of-a-kind story and holds so much historical significance. Once upon a time, these vehicles were the epitome of luxury. The individuals driving these cars also loved to look fabulous, which is why the curators of the museum thought it appropriate to include some of the classic pieces of clothing that you’ll see here. The museum dives into the history of automobiles in Alaska and they even have the Territory’s first car, which was built by a man in 1905 who had never before even seen a car! Between the months of May and September, the museum is open 7 days a week from 11 to 5. From mid-September until mid-April, the museum is open on Sundays and Wednesdays from 12 until 4. Admission costs $15 for people aged 13 and above, $9 for kids 6 through 12, and it’s free for those under 5. The museum does also offer guided tours for an additional charge if you want a more in-depth experience at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum.
