Plan a camping trip in eastern Alaska.
The Chena Lake Recreation Area is located east of Fairbanks, Alaska. Chena Lake spans over 250 acres, and its maximum depth is 38 feet. Motorized watercraft are prohibited, but anglers can take a fishing boat on the lake if they want. They stock the lake with silver salmon and rainbow trout. This pristine wilderness is also ideal for campers that need to get away from it all. They allow tents, RVs, and trailers, and all campsites at Chena Lake are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This recreation area is open 24/7; however, the swimming beach is only available during the summer, and you cannot use it between 10 PM and 6:30 AM. Please note that you are not allowed to cut your own firewood, but you can purchase firewood from the park ranger. If you see a lost or injured animal during your stay, do not approach it; instead, inform the ranger station. Anyone wanting to explore Alaska should add Chena Lake to their itinerary.
