See native Alaskan wildlife up close in their natural environment.
Located in Portage, Alaska, the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is a non-profit organization that cares for several different wildlife species native to Alaska. You will be able to see brown and black bears, bison, lynx, moose, elk, wolves, and other animals here. These animals were all previously injured and/or orphaned animals. They are housed in large enclosures, giving them plenty of room to thrive and explore their environment while giving visitors the rare opportunity to see wildlife up close.
You can ask any employee questions you may have about these animals and learn more from the interpretive signs along the way. Just by visiting, you can help support the conservation, education, and research efforts of those involved in the AWCC. The AWCC allows self-guided tours and has an educational curriculum for those who want to learn even more about the fascinating wildlife here.
