Alaska Zoo

Visit the only zoo in Alaska.

The Alaska Zoo is located in Anchorage and has been in operation since 1969, giving injured and orphaned animals a place to call home. Open year-round, you can visit these arctic and sub-arctic animals anytime. There are over 50 species in the Alaska Zoo, from birds and small mammals to 1,000-pound bears; there are plenty of species to view. You can help these animals in need just by visiting. The zoo works to safely rehabilitate animals and aid in research, education, and conservation efforts to advance the public's knowledge and understanding of these creatures. 

At the Alaska Zoo, you can walk in and enjoy each animal in its own habitat, or you can book a special animal encounter for a more interactive experience. The zoo offers encounters for several species, such as tigers and snow leopards, and the establishment also works closely with the University of Alaska Anchorage for various research efforts.
