Don’t miss out on the chance to view Oregon’s tallest lighthouse up close.
Since 1873, this lighthouse has been a beacon to many ships who have ventured along the Pacific coast. It stands at an incredible 93-foot height, and you and your group can take a tour inside the lighthouse. Tours are given on a first-come, first-served basis and can be reserved in person no earlier than 10 am. These tours have a capacity of 16 people and last about 45 minutes long. The climb up the stairs is strenuous and not recommended for those with heart conditions. No one can be lifted or carried on the lighthouse stairs or landings.
Outside, there are many tide pool areas to explore around the lighthouse, but they can’t be seen until there is a low tide. Call the center before heading over to know the optimal time for a low tide on the day you plan to visit. You may also visit the interpretive center to see exhibits about marine life, learn about the rich history behind the lighthouse, and even see a replica of the Yaquina Head lighthouse lantern. Don’t hesitate to talk to the rangers in the interpretive center to learn about the best spots to explore around the lighthouse as well.
