Search for agate and enjoy kite flying, birdwatching, and clamming at this Oregon beach.
Agate Beach is a classic place for all beach activities. The consistent coastal wind is perfect for kite flying (traditional or stunt kites), which are available for purchase in nearby Newport. Harvesting razor clams in season is a favorite for seafood lovers, and off-shore fishing is also allowed. If you’re more of a nature lover, grab your binoculars and watch for the wide variety of native birds.
It is named agate beach for a reason; there are many translucent and colorful agates that can be found scattered along the beach. There are restrooms at this recreation site. Agate Beach is located between the new and old Highway 101. Access to the beach is by way of a trail leading into a tunnel that passes under Highway 101. Don't miss this site along your Oregon coast road trip; it will be well worth your time.
