Take a sightseeing tour of historic Waterbury, Vermont.
The Waterbury Village Historic District is located in northern Vermont. In its early history, many people migrated from Waterbury, Connecticut, to this part of Vermont; hence the name Waterbury, Vermont, was established. Visitors often enjoy taking a self-guided walking tour of downtown. Sights you will see include the old railroad station, various historic homes, the old elementary schoolhouse, a department store from the late 1800s, and more. Sadly, the town experienced two major floods in 1927 and 2011. However, these natural disasters did not deter the town's community spirit. Look for the water lines outside the buildings as you stroll downtown. Please note that portions of the tour are walkable, but other parts will require transportation.
This historic district has farmers' markets every Thursday from mid-May to mid-October, plus concerts in the park Thursday nights from mid-June through August. Other seasonal events include a WinterFest, the Waterbury Arts Fest, Halloween Activities, and Holiday Festivities in December. At the northeastern end of this historic district, you should stop and take a tour of the Ben and Jerry's Factory and enjoy some of their flavorful ice creams. You can easily spend an entire day here, so come and see the Waterbury Village Historic District with your friends and family.
