Visit the oldest community-based museum in the U.S.
The Henry Sheldon Museum is located in the heart of Middlebury, Vermont. It has been around since 1884 and is a community-based museum housed inside a Federal-style historic building. The building dates back to 1829, and it has served as a cultural center for the local community, sharing details and artifacts from the county's past. Along with its permanent collection, it also features rotating art and historical exhibits. Guests can also head outside for a picnic or wander through the gardens before they leave.
This museum will reopen on June 14, 2022. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 am to 4 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission rates are $5 for adults, $4.50 for seniors, $3 for youth (school-aged children), and free for children under six. Whether you're passing through or plan to stay in Middlebury, Vermont, for a time, you've got to check out the Henry Sheldon Museum.
