The Prospect Rock Trail is located in the Green Mountain National Forest in southwestern Vermont. This trail is steep and follows along the Downer Glen Ravine. Keep your eyes peeled for milepost 1.7, then follow the spur trail to the right to get to Prospect Rock. Expect this hike to take about an hour and a half to three hours round-trip. This trail is challenging and features a 1,000-foot elevation gain, making it most suitable for more experienced hikers.
Prospect Rock is a 3.5-mile (round-trip) hike, and it offers impressive views of the Green Mountains. Despite its difficulty level, this hiking trail is popular, so expect to pass by a few other hikers during your visit (especially on the weekends). If you're an avid hiker and are visiting southern Vermont, plan to explore the Prospect Rock Trail before you leave.
