Beartown State Forest offers an array of outdoor activities to enjoy in truly beautiful surroundings.
The Beartown State Forest is located in Monterey, Massachusetts and the surrounding towns, and it’s made up of more than 10,000 acres of stunning landscapes. This publicly owned park is a great place to visit any time of year, with something special that’s offered no matter the month you come. There is certainly plenty to do within the 200 acres that are dedicated to recreational activities, especially if you enjoy hiking! There are several miles of hiking trails laid out within the forest and be prepared to see some incredible wildlife species. There are deer, bobcats, raccoons, bears, and all sorts of birds that call this enchanting forest home.
Other fun activities available at Beartown State Forest include mountain biking, horseback riding, kayaking, swimming, fishing, camping, and snow sports in the winter. The fall months are arguably the best time to make your way to Beartown since few things compare to the sheer natural beauty of New England when the leaves start changing color. The park is open from sunrise to sunset each day and between mid-May and Labor Day, the daily parking fee is $8 for Massachusetts residents and $30 for non-residents.
