This historic site is a must-see spot for art enthusiasts and history buffs.
Weir Farm is located in southwest Connecticut, in the town of Wilton. The Weir Farm National Historic site is a place where visitors can learn about the life and art of J. Alden Weir, a key player in the American Impressionist movement during the late 19th century. This National Site features the home and farmland of J. Alden Weir, and the site also commemorates the lives of other important artists that he took in over the years. The estate understands and supports the preservation of art and the park grounds are expansive and surrounded by trees.
All are welcome to take a self-guided tour around the rustic home and see all of the impressionist landscape art from Weir and others close to him. Beginning May 1, the Burlingham House Visitor Center is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. The park grounds are open year-round from sunrise to sunset, but the buildings and restroom facilities are closed annually from November to April. Please note that leashed dogs are welcome outside and must be picked up after. A visit to this farm will likely invoke a deep sense of peace and inspiration for all ages.
