The Sagamore Hill National Historic Site is located on Long Island near Oyster Bay. It is home to the "summer white house" was where Theodore Roosevelt lived from 1885 until 1919. Roosevelt's home features Queen Anne architecture and this historic site encompasses 83 acres and offers nature trails and historic buildings to tour. Bird enthusiasts should be on the lookout for great blue herons, bald eagles, winter wrens, red-tailed hawks, indigo buntings, ruby-crowned kinglets, northern cardinals, white-eyed vireos, and more.
Sagamore Hill's grounds are open daily from sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. There is no entrance fee to tour the grounds but guests must purchase tickets online if they want to tour the historic home. Currently, these tours last about 30 minutes and admission costs $10 per adult. Leashed dogs are allowed on the grounds of the historic site.
