Explore this narrow pass through Vermont's Green Mountains.
Smugglers' Notch State Park is located in Stowe, Vermont, and is an excellent place to go camping, hiking, mountain biking, caving, and enjoying a scenic mountain drive. It features 20 campsites plus 14 lean-tos and offers various hiking trails close to Mount Mansfield. The most popular hike is Sterling Pond Trail, but avid hikers may also want to check out Hellbrook Trail. Leashed dogs are allowed at Smugglers' Notch State Park; they just ask that owners pick up after their pets.
This state park is open seasonally from the end of May through mid-October. Most of the campsites are walk-in only, meaning they aren't accessible by vehicle. Since very few spots can accommodate RVs, this state park is ideal for tent camping; however, they have an RV dump station on-site. Amenities at the park include picnic tables, restrooms with running water, and coin-operated hot showers. Take the 3.5-mile scenic highway from the Barnes Camp Visitor Center and soak in the surrounding natural landscape before you leave. Discover Smugglers' Notch State Park the next time you're traveling through Vermont.
