The Fort William Henry Museum is located in Lake George, New York. If you're driving from Interstate 87, exit 21 leads directly to the village. Fort William Henry was established to protect New York's inland waterways from the French during the French and Indian War in the 1750s. The surrounding log wall was 30 feet thick and was strategically placed on a hill that slopes down to Lake George. Visitors who come will see a reconstruction of the original fort, which followed the same plans that they used in the 1700s.
