Camden Hills State Park is located off U.S. Highway 1, about an hour east of Augusta, Maine. Outdoor recreation visitors often do at this park includes bird watching, hiking, camping, mountain biking, picnicking, and snowshoeing. For a beautiful bird's eye view of the area, be sure to take the Mount Battie Trail. It is half a mile (one-way) and is a moderate hike that is always worth the effort. The 1.2-mile nature trail is an easy, walkable trail suitable for small children and offers plenty of opportunities to observe the local wildlife.
This state park is open daily from 9 am to sunset. Please check with the park staff if you're traveling here between November 1 and May 1 because the road may be closed due to bad weather. If you love camping, hiking, and observing wildlife, Camden Hills State Park is an excellent place to visit.
