Enjoy Augusta's scenic arboretum full of trees and flowers.
Viles Arboretum is east of the Kennebec River in Augusta, Maine. It features 6-miles of trails, unique art sculptures, and several botanical collections with colorful plants and flowers all around. Viles Arboretum is home to one of the longest wetland boardwalk trails in the state of Maine, and it is a serene place to enjoy some fresh air. Be sure to visit the rock garden, rhododendron area, American chestnut collection, and Ellis Island Sycamore grove as you walk around this lovely arboretum.
The visitor center and gift shop are open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm. Inside the visitor center, you can learn more about the native plant life as you explore their exhibits. This beautiful outdoor space is free to the public and you are welcome to visit between dawn and dusk 365 days a year. The outdoor paths are pet-friendly, but all pets must remain on a leash.
