Visit the home of John Freemont Hill, Maine's 45th governor.
This historic mansion is located in downtown Augusta, Maine, just west of the Kennebec River. John Calvin Stevens, a local Maine resident, was a renowned architect who Governor Hill chose to design this immaculate mansion. Construction of the mansion was completed in 1902, and it was home to John Freemont Hill and his family until the late 1940s, when it was donated to the local Catholic church. It is a shining example of Colonial Revival architecture and has been well-preserved inside and out.
The Governor Hill Mansion mainly hosts events such as weddings, parties, and family reunions. Feel free to call and book one of their rooms and ask about their catering menu if you'd like to have an event inside this historic mansion. When there is no event, visitors can walk around the mansion and admire its fine workmanship.
