This beautiful, scenic, and historic lighthouse is a great stop or destination in the Lincoln County, Maine area

After World War 2, the property surrounding the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and the lighthouse itself were sold to the town of Bristol, Maine. The Coast Guard maintains the area.

The construction of the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse began in 1827, and it is made of concrete. The lighthouse is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. The cost to go inside the lighthouse is $3 for everyone over 12 years old. The season is May to October, but the grounds are still available during the off-season.

Because of the size of the lighthouse itself, small groups can take the spiral staircase to the top at a time. The views are amazing! It is definitely recommended for everyone that is able to climb the stairs to the top!

A volunteer group helps out with the visitors around the property as well as with the previous lighthouse keepers' residence that is now a museum full of amazing artifacts and history about the area. There is also a gift shop and an art gallery featuring local artists here. The upstairs area of the lighthouse keepers' residence can even be rented for a day or week at a time.

Outside is peaceful and picturesque. The view of the Atlantic Ocean is beautiful and inspiring! The sounds are soothing and the crashing surf is mesmerizing. You may encounter some wind or fog during your visit, which all depends on nature of course. Bring a picnic with you and spend a few hours enjoying the scenery and the sounds. There are some benches around and grassy areas, too. The rock formations are epic and fun to explore. The area is also dog-friendly.

The beach is a 7-minute drive (3.6 miles) away by car, but you can also walk there. Explore the tide pools and climb the rocks, but watch out for the huge waves. The ocean is calming and soothing for many people - just walking on the beach and in the sand is relaxing.

There are some campgrounds close by and also a restaurant called The Seagull that has great reviews!
