Baxter State Park

Baxter State Park is a massive portion of land that contains Mount Katahdin, which is the northernmost terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

Baxter State Park is an absolutely breathtaking expanse of wilderness that’s comprised of over 200,000 acres from 28 different land donations that were made between the 1930s and the 1960s. Baxter State Park is located in north-central Maine, right on the outskirts of the Katahdin Woods and Water Monument. This park has a little bit of everything for every kind of outdoor enthusiast. There are 215 miles of hiking trails and 337 campsites, so there are certainly ample opportunities to get outside and have some truly exciting adventures

Mount Katahdin is within the bounds of Baxter State Park, which is the northernmost peak of the Appalachian Trail. There are multiple lakes throughout the park, and of course, there’s plenty of wildlife throughout. Moose, deer, and black bears are some common animals that visitors tend to come across. The sprawling mountains and dense forests here at Baxter Park certainly make for some beautiful sights and photo opportunities, especially during the scenic fall months.
