This national forest covers more than 750,000 acres and has over 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail within it.
The White Mountain National Forest is a remarkable place that spans the states of New Hampshire and Maine (most being in NH). The forest was established in 1918 and it’s made up of more than 750,000 gorgeous acres. Many of the major mountains in the forest are over 4,000 feet in height, and more than 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail go through the forest.
