A scenic state park in the White Mountains that is almost 7,000 acres in size and offers peaceful surroundings to enjoy fishing, hiking, and camping in.
Franconia Notch State Park is a breathtaking piece of land situated in the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. The iconic Flume Gorge is located within the grounds of this state park. Hiking, fly fishing, and camping are go-to activities at Franconia Notch. Echo Lake is where you want to head to for fly fishing among the rolling White Mountains. Expect to get some bites from trout in this 13-acre body of water. Echo Lake also happens to reside at the base of Cannon Mountain, a popular attraction in Franconia Notch State Park. “The Old Man of the Mountain” was on Cannon Mountain, but it collapsed in 2003. It was a peculiar formation that resembled, you guessed it, an old man. There’s an aerial tramway at Cannon Mountain, as well.
Aside from fly fishing on Echo Lake, kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats are provided via a rental through the park. There is a bike trail available for guests to explore this scenic state park, and of course hiking trails as well. One of the best trails is Lonesome Lake Trail, which is a 3-mile stretch that is moderate in difficulty. You will get to see stunning views of Lonesome Lake along this path as well as the chance to see various bird species and multitudes of wildflowers. Franconia Notch State Park will have every lover of the outdoors filled with glee.
