This USS aircraft carrier was built during World War II. This is the oldest largest aircraft carrier ever created for military use. It is now a permanent display in Texas open for tours, events, and more.

USS Lexington is the largest aircraft carrier ever used in military defense and fighting. It was built during WWII. It was used from 1943 to 1992. It is now a permanent resident of Texas on the coast of Corpus Christi. This tourist attraction offers tours, events, and more. Peak season is from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and during spring break, this carrier is open from 9 am to 6 pm. From Labor Day to Memorial Day, it is opened from 9 am to 6 pm. Admission requires a fee, which varies in price depending on age. Those that are 3 and under are free. General admission includes self-guided tours, the 3D mega theater, and exhibits. Currently, there are 5 self-guided tours, they cover over 100,000 square feet, and they all have interactive displays. Any questions can be answered by the ship's volunteers that are easily identifiable by their yellow shirts. The tours include the Flight Deck tour, Foc’sle Tour, Gallery Deck Tour, Lower Deck Tour, and Hangar Deck Tour. The hangar deck and the flight deck are wheelchair accessible, along with the 3D theater, mess deck, ship store, and restrooms which are located on the hangar deck. An elevator can be taken to the fight deck. Guided tours that require advanced group reservations also require additional fees. There are behind-the-scenes tours, and these tours will adventure through 15 different areas. These tours can take up to 3-4 hours long. The behind the scene tours will include steep ladders, as well as dark, confined, and cramped spaces. Good walking shoes and comfortable clothing is a must. Hard hats and a small flashlight will be provided. A paranormal overnight tour is also available that has special requirements. The USS Lexington is a popular tourist attraction. It also offers a variety of activities including the 3D theater, an escape room, a Pearl Harbor Exhibit, a flight simulator, and virtual battle station gaming. Also located on-site is the Mess Deck Cafe, which is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. The cafe includes sandwiches, hot meals, snacks, and drinks. The ship store also carries an array of items that are guaranteed to provide the perfect souvenirs.
