Take a steam train ride through the Austin, Texas area.
A train ride through town is a neat family-friendly activity. The Austin Steam Train takes off from three stations, Cedar Park, Bertram, and Burnet. From the departure station, you will head down to Austin and see the rural parts of the area. The Cedar Park station has a museum where you can learn about the history of the steam train and take a look around before your train ride. For safety reasons, guests cannot walk around the train yard since it is a working train yard.
Most of the time, they only offer tickets on Saturdays and Sundays. This train also runs during the holiday season as the North Pole Flyer. It is best to always purchase tickets in advance, but please note that all sales are final, so make sure you select the date and time slot you prefer. Many tickets sell out at least a week before the scheduled train ride, and the North Pole Flyer is especially popular. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your ride; the trains have a tight schedule and will not wait for latecomers. If you love train rides, be sure to book tickets to this one the next time you're in Austin, Texas.
