Spend your summer swimming and tubing on the Pedernales River.
Pedernales Falls State Park is located 30 miles west of Austin, Texas, encompassing 5,000-acres of land. The Pedernales River flows through this recreational area, and it is a go-to place for swimming, tubing, kayaking, fishing, and camping. If you like horseback riding, there are over a dozen miles of equestrian trails here as well. The river flow is stronger depending on the weather conditions, so plan accordingly. Typically, the wettest months are May, August, and September.
Twin Falls Overlook is a frequented spot within this park, and it features a scenic overlook, where you can see the bright green spring and the surrounding nature. Don't leave without seeing the Pedernales Falls, accessible from the 1-mile trail. Entrance fees are $6 for anyone ages 13 and older. Pedernales Falls State Park is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, and it often fills up quickly on the weekends during the summer.
