This spectacular natural cave system has 6 different rooms, and one of those rooms even serves as a concert hall.
You will find the Cave Without a Name in Boerne, Texas – about an hour outside of San Antonio. This cave is recognized as a National Natural Landmark and has been open to the public since 1939. This cave system is comprised of 6 major rooms, stays at a comfortable 66 degrees year-round, and many prehistoric animal remains have been discovered within it. During the Prohibition in the 1920s, one of the rooms in the cave was even used as a moonshine distillery. Throughout the cave, you can find stalactites, stalagmites, and many other magnificent rock formations. Right now, about 2.7 miles of cave systems have been mapped out, but there is likely more waiting to be discovered.
One of the 6 rooms, known as the Throne Room, has spectacular qualities that make it wonderful for acoustics. Concerts are held in this room that can comfortably fit up to 200 people, making events something that are impossible to forget because of the mind-blowing natural surroundings. During the summer, the cave is open from 9-6, and through the fall and winter it's open from 10-5. There are guides who offer tours of the cave, and it’s helpful to make a reservation before going. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and military, $10 for ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. There are special group rates offered on the tours, as well.
