This park has several miles of trails to explore along the peaceful Genesee River.
Turning Point Park is a lovely recreational area that’s situated on the Genesee River in Rochester, New York. The park covers 275 acres and there are many miles of trails through the woods for enjoying hiking and biking. The boardwalk and trail at Turning Point Park, which is comprised of three parts, is a favorite among visitors – the first portion is a 2,968-foot trail on land that has an old railroad bed to help create a passage between the bank and edge of the river, the second portion is a 3,572-food bridge that traverses over the Genesee River Turning Basin, and the last section is a newer addition and is 3,406 feet on land. Exploring the lengthy trails at Turning Point is a great way to see the beauty Rochester has to offer.
Another unique feature at Turning Point is the eco-friendly Rain Garden. When there’s plenty of rain or snow, the runoff and sediment from the parking lot travels into the Rain Garden, where the abundant varieties of vegetation capture and filter the runoff before it flows into the river. When you’re craving a day outside and want some super fresh air and the loveliest views, Turning Point Park offers just that and more. You’ll be able to find true peace and serenity during strolls along the river with views of the plentiful foliage that surrounds you from every angle.
