This park is home to a number of stunning gardens, a mid-1800s castle inspired by Scottish architecture, and multiple memorials.
Highland Park is also recognized as Highland Botanical Park and it’s located in Rochester, New York. This lovely arboretum is 150 acres in size and holds a variety of events throughout the year that are great for the whole family. Highland Park hosts an incredible lilac festival in May and the lily pond makes for a fantastic natural ice skating rink in the winter months. There are a few different and beautiful memorials throughout the park, as well, such as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Victims’ Rights Memorial.
Highland Park is a lovely place to visit any time of year, but especially in the summertime. This is when the park hosts events such as Shakespeare in the Park and their free outdoor movie series. Some other popular activities that visitors partake in at Highland Park include sports on the athletic fields (available through reservation), taking a self-guided tour through the remarkable Warner Castle that dates back to 1854 and the sunken garden, enjoying the playground, strolling through the gorgeous palms and ferns in the Lamberton Conservatory, and geocaching. Highland Park is truly a gem nestled in Rochester, so don’t miss out on paying it a visit if you’re in the area!
