Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park is located southeast of Rochester, New York. Frederick and Mary Thompson originally owned the Mansion, and it is a shining landmark of the local community. This place has one of the few public gardens in the New York State Park system. There aren't just one, but nine historic gardens you can explore at the park. Springtime flowers include bleeding hearts, lilacs, daffodils, columbines, and more. The summer months have the widest variety of plants to look at, such as delphiniums, gypsophila, roses, and irises, to name a few. Fall weather brings colorful leaves, chrysanthemums, asters, and buddleias.
The Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park is minutes away from downtown Canandaigua and offers respite from city life. They have seasonal events throughout the year, such as summer moonlight strolls, father's day car shows, mansion mysteries, and more. Admission is $15 for adults, $8 for youth (13-17), $3 for children (4-12), and children three and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online or in-person at the admissions booth.
