Enjoy fun in the sun at this recreation area located below Gavin's Point Dam and Lewis and Clark Lake.
Pierson Ranch Recreation Area is open year-round for camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, and boating. The area covers 60 acres and was first opened in 1959. It is the oldest campground in the area, and the first campground opened after Gavin's Point Dam was finished. The park has picnic shelters and a large day-use area that is great for family reunions and large group get-togethers. There are also basketball courts, volleyball courts, disc golf, and a soccer field. Playgrounds, biking and hiking trails (some paved), pickleball/tennis courts, and many water sports are available here.
The Pierson Ranch Recreation Area features 67 campsites and 2 camper cabins that can sleep up to 4 people. There is one kitchenette picnic shelter available to rent as well. The area has plenty of open green space, an amphitheater, playground equipment, a dump station, and clean restrooms. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and swimming on Lake Yankton. The Pierson Ranch Recreation Area has everything you would ever want to enjoy the great outdoors.
