Have a fun time with friends and family on Kanopolis Lake.
Kanopolis Lake State Park is located in central Kansas in the Smoky Hills region. This is the first state park in Kansas, and it is a beautiful place to go camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking, horseback riding, and boating. The landscape features rolling hills, bluffs, canyons, caves, and a 3,500-acre reservoir. Common fish include channel catfish, trout, white bass, crappie, and saugeye. Anyone that enjoys hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding can explore over 30 miles of trails within the park. Bird enthusiasts can expect to see osprey and bald eagles during late fall and winter and songbirds in the springtime.
In the middle of the park near the amphitheater, they have a kid's fishing pond, ball field, campsites, and a boat ramp. Look no further for a great camping area in Kansas; Kanopolis Lake State Park is hard to beat. Mushroom Rock State Park is just up the road from this park, so be sure to stop by both of these places while traveling through central Kansas.
