Gloss Mountain State Park is located northwest of Oklahoma City. These mountains have a lot of selenite, a mineral that mimics shiny surfaces such as glass. Visitors can hike the Cathedral Mountain trail during the daytime. This trail leads all the way up the mountain, which features a flat mesa offering great views of the valley below. You are also welcome to bring food with you during your outing. They have picnic areas, grills, and a public water supply at the park.
This state park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Please note that admission is free, and leashed dogs are welcome here. Wildlife you may see at Gloss Mountain State Park include lizards, various birds of prey, snakes, and small rodents.
