Visit this art center featuring Terry Redlin's paintings.
The Redlin family decided to build an art center in South Dakota. Terry Redlin went to art school on a scholarship for disabled students, so they decided to give back to the community that had helped their famous artist father, Terry Redlin. The building is stunning and has many areas that help visitors connect with the artist and what he loved most. He enjoyed family, nature, and the fine arts. Terry Redlin's son, Charles, watched his father paint all of his life and sell every oil painting. Charles wanted his dad to stop selling the paintings and collect them to display in a public space for all people to enjoy.
It took some time for Terry Redlin to finally warm to the idea, but Charles began planning immediately when he did. That collection began 25 years before the Redlin Center opened in 1997. The Center has more than 150 Redlin oil paintings, a theater, 3 gift shops, and a park. The Redlin Art Center is free to enter and is open year-round. The Redlin Art Center welcomes young people and families to participate in gallery games that encourage the study of the work. All can receive a Kid Connection game card with the gallery picture bingo, a gallery crossword puzzle, and other word games that help enhance the learning process. After the children complete the game card, they receive a small complimentary souvenir to take home. Explore your creativity at this awesome art center.
