This state park is open year-round. It is located in South Dakota along the Big Sioux River. The park covers 588 acres and is a great recreation area. Various hiking trails wind throughout the grounds, including overlooks so that visitors can enjoy the sounds and sights of the wildlife, the river, and the surrounding landscape. Good Earth State Park is a National Historic Landmark and is the newest state park in South Dakota.
Within the park, you can visit the Blood Run Site. This was a settlement for thousands of Native Americans and was used as a trading center and gathering place for seasonal ceremonies for the inhabitants from 1,300 to 1,700 AD. There is an 11,000 square-foot visitors center depicting the history of the area through interesting exhibits. The trails are clean and well-marked with easy to moderate hiking trails. The museum also hosts many events such as the Escape Room. Winter offers snowshoeing and wildlife such as bald eagles, deer, birds, and others. It is a peaceful, beautiful place that is perfect for outdoor lovers.
