Fort Ransom State Park is surrounded by the scenic landscape of the Sheyenne River Valley. This state park is a popular destination for outdoor recreational activities such as camping and hiking along the trails. Guests can explore over 20 miles of loop trails via hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or horseback riding. Other activities such as bird watching and fishing are also available here. The fort hosts yearly Sodbuster days, a celebration featuring pioneer homestead exhibits and homestead life demonstrations.
A variety of lodging and camping options allow visitors to extend their stay at this park. Visitors can even rent the Bjorne house, a historic homestead house established in 1879. This house features modern amenities while also maintaining its rustic appeal. Yurts are also available to rent, and they feature heating and air conditioning. The yurts are situated next to major trailheads. Guests must bring their own bedding and towels. Check-in time is 4 pm, and check-out is 12 pm.
