Explore the northern shore of Lewis and Clark Lake.
This is a beautiful lakeside area with campgrounds, multi-use trails, sandy beaches, a large marina, and a restaurant. The large Missouri River Reservoir, Gavin's Point Dam, and Lewis and Clark Lake make this one of the state park system's most popular resort parks. Three separate campgrounds, camping cabins, and modern resort facilities attract visitors from throughout the Midwest. The campgrounds include the Yankton Area, Midway Area, and Gavin's Point Area. There are 409 paved campsites and 19 camping cabins available with electric hookups, modern restrooms, and hot showers. Swimming beaches and boat ramps provide plenty of room for outdoor recreation. Visitors can also enjoy the archery range, 6 miles of bike trails, a nature trail, and a 4.1-mile multi-use trail.
Plenty of picnic shelters and grills are available, too, if you want to stop by for a day trip. There are also equestrian base camps with 8 electric sites and corrals for anyone that wants to bring their horse on a trip. A fish cleaning station is available for those who plan on fishing here. The restaurant has a mouth-watering menu featuring smoked baby back ribs, steaks, pasta, sandwiches, and desserts. Visitors can call ahead for takeout and even park their boat at the courtesy dock. The marina has 400 wet slips for boat mooring, a gas dock with 24-hour fueling, a sanitation pump out, and more. The beaches are pristine, the views are amazing, and there is so much green space to enjoy. Pets are welcome, and you can enjoy the boat beaches, which are the non sanctioned beaches hidden in the camping shoreline. Consider camping at this recreation area; you won't regret the experience.
